10 Days to Special Olympics International Football Championship 2019

CHENNAI, India. – After months of hard work, planning, and persistence, teams from 15+ countries around the world will meet in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai on August 3rd, 2019 for a series of matches that will not only decide the winner of the Championship Cup, but will also champion the Special Olympics’ motto of inclusion.With only 10 days left for the event, the SOIFC 2019 organizing committee will gather for a press meet on July 24th at Ramada, Marina I, to announce the lineup and the complete program of the four-day mega event.

The committee will formally introduce the Chief Guests for the Inauguration Ceremony, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Ashwini Kumar Choubey and Padma Vibhushan awardee, music composer and director, maestro Ilaiyaraaja, and Guests of Honour, Hon’ble Acting Consul General Kent May of the US Consulate General, Chennai and Director, Sports and Development, Special Olympics International, USA Washington D.C., Mr. Christian Guiralt.

The committee will also announce the Chief Guests for the Closing Ceremony, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Kiren Rijiju and Hon’ble Minister for Sports and School Education, Shri Sengottiyan.

The press meet will comprehensively cover the program of the Inauguration and Closing ceremonies, the match schedules, the list of participating countries and teams, and other information about the event.
